THE family of the cyclist who died in a road traffic accident on Morecambe Road last week have paid tribute to him.
Carl Blamire's mother Margaret said he was "a happy person who lived life as it came".

"He always thought a lot about other people, especially his three brothers Danny, Lee and Dean and his girlfriend Becky," she said.

"He was a person who always had a smile for people and he will be greatly missed by all his family and his close friends, especially Jez and Mike.

"We would like to thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts including 'Twilight' and 'Guitar Mike', all our friends and all of Becky's family who have provided great support.

"We also want to thank the hospital staff and the police family liaison officer for all they have done for us as well.''

Carl, 24, of Lancaster, was in collision with a Volvo FM 300 rigid HGV at around 2.45pm on Thursday on Morecambe Road near the junction with Summersgill Road. He died of his injuries on Saturday in hospital.

Sergeant Nigel Ralphson, who is leading the investigation into the incident, said: "I would appeal to anybody who witnessed the collision to contact police.

"I am aware that there were a number of people at the scene who didn't manage to pass on their details to an officer and I would urge them to come forward."

Lancaster police can be contacted on (01524) 63333.
