Man remanded in custody over murder charge

A LANCASTER man has been remanded in custody to await trial after denying a murder charge.
Michael Hughes, aged 27, of Brindle Close, Lancaster, was originally charged with wounding John Watson with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in May.

The murder charge follows Mr Watson's death last week, six months after he was allegedly attacked.

Hughes is expected to stand trial on March 2nd after he entered his not guilty plea at Preston crown court today.

There was no application for bail and he was remanded in custody by Judge Anthony Russell QC.
