AN award-winning team of Lancaster licensed trade entrepreneurs have invested a six-figure sum to transform a Morecambe pub.
Matt Jackson and Phil Simpson of C2 Original Inns will re-open The Palatine on Queen Street in early December as customers will have never seen it before.

The Palatine will be a Morecambe version of Matt and Phil's Sun Hotel on Church Street in Lancaster, which this week was up for the 2008 UK Pub of the Year award.

C2 Original Inns also own the UK's fastest-growing brewery Lancaster Brewery, which will supply many of the cask ales for The Palatine.
They also transformed The Water Witch in Lancaster before selling it in 2006.

Phil said: "The Palatine will be completely different to how it was before. People will walk in here and be surprised.

"We've been looking at Morecambe for two or three years, waiting for the right location.

"The Palatine will be very different to anything else around here. We won't have optics, door staff, happy hours, cheap lager or alcopops. I believe there is a market in Morecambe for this kind of pub. We've got to get people to come back into Morecambe from Lancaster. I think that is gradually starting to happen."

The pub will be open on two floors, with a bar downstairs and an upstairs lounge and dining area.
