Published Date: 18 November 2008
AN operation has been launched to reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured on the county's roads.
Operation Pathway will involve officers carrying out proactive days of high visibility policing in order to save lives and protect people.

There will be a series of action days involving officers from specialist units including road policing, neighbourhood teams, ANPR units and uniformed patrol. During 2007, 1,000 people were killed or seriously injured on Lancashire's roads.

Up to and including September, the figure this year is at 718.

Focus will be aimed at those who use the roads irresponsibly through speed, careless or inconsiderate driving, who create a danger to themselves and other road users.

This is unless your a policeman driving over 100 mph on the wrong side of the road of course. In which case you will get off scott free.

Maybe the roads would be safer if the police had pushbikes.
