Artell's Angle: I'm happy to play as a striker

It's been a mixed week in terms of results in cup competitions.
Tuesday saw us lose to Tranmere in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy but we followed up that set back with a resounding win against a poor Grimsby side.

After a lacklustre first half at Tranmere, where Rochy kept us in the game, we played much better i
n the second half and on another day could maybe have took the tie to penalties (and we all know the outcome when we're involved in a shoot-out).

Saturday's game saw us stamp our authority on it from the outset and the only surprise was that the outcome was as close as it was. Grimsby were poor but you still have to beat whatever is put in front of you and we did this more convincingly than the score suggests.

Aaron Taylor took his goals brilliantly and he and Diarmuid O'Carroll played very well together. However, as I said to any of the strikers that would listen after Tuesday, it's only a matter of time before I take their shirt off them!

Obviously I am referring to my two cameos at the other end of the park. On Tuesday, it was to try and ruffle a few feathers and somehow get an equaliser and on Saturday it was because Aaron had run his socks off.

Someone asked me if I was upset at the gaffer putting me on up front. It couldn't be further from the truth, I've enjoyed my little run outs, although with lads coming back from injury I think my time as a striker is up. As I said last week I get paid to play football and I'm not that bothered where, so long as I am.

The draw for the second round saw us get a rather difficult tie against higher league opposition. The only positives that I can think of is that it's at home and because Oldham and Cheltenham drew on Saturday, the gaffer will get to see at first hand who we'll come up against.

I'm not sure who I'd prefer; Oldham, because we've already had a good result against them, or Cheltenham because of their lower league position.

The other big news saw the gaffer sign a contract extension for another year. After two successful seasons, it was hard not to see the gaffer being rewarded and he fully deserves it.
