SHRIMPS goalscorer Rene Howe says his team need to focus on keeping a clean sheet at home to Dagenham this weekend.
The on-loan Peterborough striker opened his account for the Shrimps in the 2-1 defeat at Bury on Saturday.

And the frontman says his side must focus on defending strongly if they are to pick up their much-needed first win of the season at Christie Park on Saturday.

Howe said: "It was nice to get off the mark but you want to make sure you win the game as well.

"I was pleased with the goal and I thought overall that it was a much better all-round performance. But you want a result and I think everyone has to be on top of their game from now on.

"It's early in the season but we don't want to fall behind the teams around us and we don't want to go on a bad run at this stage of the year.

"I know I'm a striker but I've always been told that if you keep a clean sheet you have a better chance of winning a game and I think if we can do that against Dagenham on Saturday it would be a huge boost."
Dagenham struggled last season but are currently fourth with two wins and a draw from three games.

Howe said: "Dagenham have started well but we can't worry about what other people are doing. We just have to think about ourselves.

"I thought we looked better on Saturday than we have done but we need to show a bit more quality with the final ball and perhaps get a few more people in the box when we are attacking as well to really put the pressure on sides."
