Morecambe Football Club has today announced the appointment of two new directors.
Brian Fagan and Mark Dixon have joined the board and will work mainly on the development of the new stadium.

The appointments were announced by chairman Peter McGuigan who said: "I am delighted to welcome Brian and Mark on to the board of directors at Morecambe Football Club.

"Both have been working behind the scenes on the exciting plans for the new stadium on Westgate which we hope will be up and running for the 2010/11 season. Both have great experience which will be important in the development which will be a major boost for the club and for Morecambe as a whole.''

Brian will be known to many having worked for Lancaster City Council for 36 years, the last 15 years as Building Control Manager, before retiring in July.

He will also be known to many more through his involvement in local football having played for Heysham, College, Bolton-le Sands, Trimpell, Lansil, Balmoral Old Boys, and Lancaster Spartans.

Brian said, 'I consider it a privilege to have been invited to take a place on the board of directors, particularly at this point in the club's history as it consolidates its position in the Football League and as we prepare to move to a new stadium.

'I am delighted to have accepted the offer and I look forward to assisting the board in delivering a first class stadium and the proposed multi-function sporting facilities, which will be available to the wider local community.''

Mark has worked for leading sports brands such as Pentland and Umbro and lives in Heysham.

Another former local footballer with teams such as Morecambe Royals, Mark is also a member of Heysham Golf Club and he has worked behind the scenes on the new stadium plans since the idea was first proposed.

He said: "I am very proud to have been asked to join the board in what are very exciting times for the club, supporters and town.

"I have been a supporter since moving to the area, attending as many games as work and family life allow. I am looking forward to being involved in the next chapter of the football club's history. ''
